“I still have a smile on my face. I end every day feeling a sense of fulfillment. I think psychiatry for me specifically has been probably the best decision I’ve made so far, and that comes as a consequence of the other best decision I made which was going to St. George’s University.”
Njambi Mathenge, MD ‘14
Kenya
“Early on in the curriculum, St. George’s University exposes students to the requirements and the skills necessary to be able to attain a residency. It’s done not only from an excellent academic standpoint, which helps you prepare for the USMLE, but also in the diversity of clinical skills experiences and the number of rotations that you can do across the country.”

Hear from SGU Graduates
“I feel my training at SGU is on par with other students and physicians that I have come into contact with. If anything, my training at SGU put me at a slight advantage when it came to infectious disease—which, being from Ghana, is very handy. I would highly recommend SGU without hesitation. It allowed me to realize my dreams. It’s added to my growth as a person and as a physician, and I would not have it any other way if I could rewrite my life story.”
Gifty-Maria Ntim, MD, MPH
Ghana
“Going to SGU exposed me to different cultures, different ways of thinking, and different ways of communicating. I think that it made me richer on a personal level; not only that, but it has also made me a better communicator and, hopefully, therefore, a more understanding doctor.”
Carmen Roessler, MD
South Africa
“It was clear very early on that SGU was the perfect fit. I went there and knew six or seven people from Kenya, but then got to meet people from different parts of the world. It was beautiful to learn about their experiences and the different paths they were on. It was a strange sense of almost feeling like I was home. I made a lot of close friends, and I even met my wife. For those reasons and more, SGU has a special place in my heart. I wouldn’t have done anything differently.”
Lewis Musoke, MD
Kenya
“SGU taught me accountability, responsibility, and to be able to work hard to achieve my goal.”
